Thank You Angola....
For the month of November, I had the opportunity to play in the FIBA Africa Cup Tournament for Interclube Basket in Angola, Africa. The FIBA Africa Cup tournament is one of the biggest events in Africa where qualified teams from different parts of the country came under one roof and competed for the championship cup. Interclube was in the building and competed with the best of the best in Africa. Unfortunately, we did not win the cup but I had an amazing experience. The people I met in Angola showed nothing but hospitality. I learned so much in such a short period of time there. The hustle and hard work was outstanding. There were lots of people on the streets selling any and everything, to be able to provide at least the minimum for their families. I saw woman carrying large baskets on their head, and their babies on their back. I watched women hand wash their clothes outside of their sheds. Somethings I’ve seen brought tear to my eyes. They don’t have the resources and privileges as we do in America. Before going to Angola, I took things in my life for granted, at times been ungrateful and stubborn. After, my experience, I sat down and prayed to God. I thanked him for everything I’ve been blessed with, and asked for forgiveness on all the things I’ve took for granted. Be grateful! There are so many bigger issues in the world, and the things that we take for granted, others wish they had. Thank You Angola for reminding me that my life is a blessing, and there is no excuse to not working hard for what one wants. Lastly, I added a goal which is to be able to give back to people of need in my country and different parts on the world! Thank You Angola!
